Ten Reasons Why Your Dog’s Grooming Cost More Than Your Haircut

*Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.

*You don’t roll in nasty things and go for weeks without

      washing or brushing your hair.

*Your hairdresser doesn’t have to give you a sanitary trim.

*Your hairdresser doesn’t have to clean your ears or remove

      the boogies from your eyes.

*Your hairdresser doesn’t have to de-mat your hair.

*You sit still for your hairdresser.

*Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure.

*Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on

      your head.

*You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser.

*The likelihood of you pooping on the hairdresser is

      pretty slim.

Shaggy To Chic Dog: FIRST VISIT

What can you expect on your first visit?  We will greet your pet with a treat and give them the opportunity to sniff out the grooming environment while you provide us a little information on your pet.  We will need the following information from you:

Name, address and contact phone numbers

Breed, name and age of your pet

Weight, gender, whether or not your pet is neutered

Name and phone number of your pet's vet

Copy of vaccination records

Any medical or behavioral issues

We will then discuss and evaluate your pet's hair trim and style; evaluate your pet's skin or coat condition and which shampoo is appropriate; consider any matting or shedding issues; consider any health, medical or behavioral issues that may affect the grooming session; discuss any additional services needed or desired; and, quote appropriate or applicable fees.

Once your pet is received under our care, your pet will begin his grooming session, treated with kindness, given a potty break if needed and given a treat when grooming session is completed.  We will then call you and advise that your pet is ready for pick-up.  We try not to hold onto your pet any longer than we have to so as to reduce the stress of being separated from you.

Payment is expected upon pick up and we accept Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express, check or cash.  We will also review the grooming session with you and discuss any observations or concerns discovered during the session.

While under our care and waiting to be groomed or picked up, your pet is free to hang out with us in the grooming area.  However, when there are multiple clients present, we may have to temporarily crate your pet for health, safety or behavioral reasons.

Please be aware that because our grooming area is open to the boutique, we are frequently interrupted to service a boutique customer and may take a little longer than you may have experienced with a previous groomer.  As we grow, we hope to be able to add additional personnel to alleviate the interruptions to your pet's session.

The Trouble with Mats!

Preventing mats (solid tangles of fur) in your pet is not only important for his style, but also for his health. Mats occur when adjacent hairs start to tangle together and knot. When the hairs tangle together, they pull on the animal's skin. The larger and tighter the mat, the more it pulls. At best, this pulling is uncomfortable. At worst, it can actually impede the animal's movement. Sometimes mats will actually rip patches of hair out of the skin, leaving bald spots underneath.   Read More...
